Favorite Finds The Renovation Inspired by a Kitchen Sink! 03/27/2020 Share We’re so excited to reveal a kitchen remodel we’ve been working on for the last couple of months. Believe it not, this renovation all started with a kitchen sink! Our clients love the classic, all white kitchen. It’s a timeless and traditional look, but we wanted to do something special and unexpected to kick things up a notch. When we heard BLANCO was releasing the new IKON 33” Farmhouse Sink in Concrete Gray, we knew it would be the perfect statement piece for this project! The matte, concrete gray finish of the IKON 33” Farmhouse Sink sink brings so much depth and dimension to the white cabinetry and tied in beautifully with the veining in the Carrara Extra marble countertops. The sink adds just the right amount of contrast, while keeping the overall look soft and timeless. We went with a zellige backsplash, which is a glazed clay tile that’s been around for ages, but is really making a comeback on the design scene these days. The irregular edges of the clay and the glazed finish gives the backsplash just enough dimension and shimmer to stand out against the white cabinets and marble countertops. It’s a classic look and a fun alternative to traditional subway tile. We changed up the cabinet hardware with a cup style drawer pull and simple knobs that feel traditional, but fresh. We kept the original footprint in this kitchen and our contractors were able to retro-fit the existing cabinets to accommodate the apron front sink. To replace the old drop-in sink with a farmhouse sink, we cut the cabinets to fit the apron front and then added filler wood to the sides. We only needed two new drawers and two smaller cabinet doors to retro-fit the old cabinets. An easy fix! The sink and the arched CULINA faucet (also from BLANCO) positioned under the window serve as a stunning focal point for the kitchen! This was such a fun transformation and our clients love the look of their new space!
