The Solution

Hi Erika,
For your design solution, I tried to create that fresh and casual transitional California feel by keeping things light and layering in different textures. The blue flatweave rug helps to ground the room and creates a nice backdrop for a pop of coral (you will also see this color reflected in the bookcase styling to create flow throughout the room).

A few things to note: I ended up not including an option for the ottoman because after talking to you about your current one and working it into the design, keeping it was the best option. However, if you want to see something else just let me know!

In the rendering above, I used an ottoman similar to yours but yours will actually work even better in the space because of the light wood. I also used a sectional similar to yours to complete the visual. The styling on the side table is also just there to complete the visual and is not included in the shopping list.

I have included alternate options for the side table, table lamp, and area rug. You can find these in the shopping list.
The end table pictured here fits the design and budget very well, however I have included a solid wood table option that would be higher quality but also a bit more expensive, in case you are looking for an alternative.

bookcase styling guide

I decided to go with 2 shelves and the cabinet top (creating 3 shelf surfaces on each side) for the bookcases. They should be roughly evenly spaced and based on the measurements you gave me, each shelf should be approximately 17 inches high.
The styling directions start at the left and work to right.

LEFT-SIDE:
1-A stack of your existing books, OMBRE LACQUER BOX with the HAMBLEN SCULPTURE on top. One the right side, the large beach family photo facing outward squared off with the STRATTFORD BUD 2 PIECE BLUE/WHITE PORCELAIN TABLE VASE SET layered in front on the right side.

2- Keep the shelf the same, except for adding the GOLD BIRD STAND on the left side behind the small photo and next to the vase. Also, add 2 of the HONEYCOMB STUDIO CORAL & GOLD BUD VASES layered in front of the large wedding photo on the right side.

3- Place the FAUX POTTED FERN PLANT on the left side with the TRIO OF GOLD BIRDS IN CLOCHE FIGURINE in front towards the right. Then put your Milton stack of horizontal books in the middle with a small family photo on top. The right side should have your existing white ginger jar, with a small vertical family photo slightly overlapping on the left side and the QUATREFOIL LIGHT BLUE & CREAM CURVY 6" VASE on the right side of the jar.

RIGHT-SIDE:
1- Place the ATRIUM GLASS HURRICANES staggered by height on the left side, then place the PUTEAUX DECORATIVE POT towards the center. The ROSA ABSTRACT BY JOLINA ANTHONY - WRAPPED CANVAS PRINT should be layered behind the pot on the right side facing straight out with one of your existing boxwood planters layered on the right side of the painting.

2- Place a stack of your existing books vertically on the left side, with the swatchpop boxes next to it towards the center of the shelf (acting as a bookend), then place the last HONEYCOMB STUDIO CORAL & GOLD BUD VASE slightly off-centered on top. One the right side place your white lattice urn, with the K&K INTERIORS INC 9" REAL TOUCH HYDRANGEA STEM IN GLASS layered slightly in front and on the left side of the urn and the LARGE CARVED TEAL CERAMIC DECORATIVE BOX on the right side.

3- Take a stack of your books and place them horizontally on the left side and place the BLUE LATTICE 12" VASE on top, then layer your other boxwood planter on the right. One the right side, place your large family photo facing out with a small family photo slightly overlapping on the left side of the larger picture. Lastly, place the 3 PIECE MONA BLUE CERAMIC TABLE VASE SET in front of the large photo on the right side.
