The Solution

Hi Meghan!

I love your new lighter fireplace! Well done! Falling into the habit of a neutral color scheme is so common because it is "safe" in the style department. I understand your need for color so I wanted to introduce color into your home in a tasteful way which will not be overwhelming to your very neutral space. Blue is a great color to incorporate because it isn't too bright. I also added a few pops of green to help add another color. Also, I really tried to keep these very budget friendly so you can still decorate the rest of your home. Pillows would also be a great way to add more color to your home for your next Swatchpop project!

option 1

I started this design with a large framed navy print. This blue is gorgeous and keeps that warm color scheme that is currently in your home. Adding a glass vase with a few stems of greenery will add height. I sourced artificial stems, but these can also be real greenery if that is something you prefer. The other side of the artwork is a sculptured piece, that adds height but is clear so it doesn't cover up a large part of the artwork. Last, layer a group of white candles in various sizes to finish off the space.

option 2

This option is more farmhouse style, which you showed interest in through your inspiration photos. The artwork has a lighter color scheme and more feminine, compared to the more masculine art in option 1. Layer the same sculptured piece to the left of the frame. Layer the other side of the art with a mirror to brighten the space and finish off with a small decorative object to group the items together.

Bookcase Styling

This is a fun piece of furniture with many spots to add personality. I started this design by adding 3 similar frames to give you a sophisticated way to add family photos. I tried to save you some money in this by using your existing clock and small metallic vase. The wire basket and blue patterned box set gives you some beautiful ways to add storage areas here or leave empty since they are decor as well. To contrast all the small decor items on the shelves, we add one large basket to the bottom shelf to anchor the bottom of the bookcase and provide plenty of storage. The key to styling bookshelves like these is to add various heights, textures, and layer items to create a well-styled space!
